PUBLIC HEALTH AND OBESITY

Public health is a branch of medical sciences that deals with the art of preventing disease, prolonging life and promoting health through the organized efforts. It is concerned with threats to health based on population health analysis. The focus of public health intervention is to improve health and quality of life through the prevention and treatment of disease and other physical and mental health conditions, through surveillance of cases and the promotion of healthy behaviors. It emphasizes to prevent and manage diseases, injuries and other health conditions through the promotion of healthy behaviors, communities and environments. Public health plays an important role in disease prevention efforts in both the developing world and in developed countries, through local health systems and non-governmental organizations.

In the 21st century, along with the rapid advancements in the field of health and medicine, there was a rise in diseases. Almost every person in the world is suffering from any disease. It can be a mental stress or a fatal disease as cancer or AIDS. One of the diseases which are prevailing amongst us in this century is Obesity. It can be natural or like many people, it can attack you in any age. In fact obesity is a medical condition in which a boy of person put on extra body fats. This disease has adverse effects on health, which may lead to reduced life expectancy or other increased health problems particularly heart diseases, diabetes, certain types of cancer, asthma and many other. Now the question arises that how to overcome this disease. Many people think that it is incurable. This disease does not go with time. But the latest advancements in the field of health and medicine have proved that it is easy and possible to overcome obesity and retain your original health.

Weight loss programs, in the context of medicine, health or physical fitness, is a reduction of the total body mass, due to a mean loss of fluid, lean mass, muscle, tendon and other connective tissue. It can occur unintentionally due to an underlying disease such as cancer, AIDS, and a variety of other diseases. Intentional weight loss refers to the loss of total body mass in an effort to improve fitness and health, and/or to change appearance. Attention to diet in particular can be beneficial in reducing the impact of diabetes and other health risks of an overweight or obese individual. Anti-obesity medication or weight loss drugs are all pharmacological agents that reduce or control weight. These drugs alter one of the fundamental processes of the human body, weight regulation, by altering appetite, metabolism, or absorption of calories.

Because of potential side effects, it is recommended that anti-obesity drugs only be prescribed for obesity where it is hoped that the benefits of the treatment outweigh its risks. In Australia, almost 60% of the people are overweight, which means they need to reduce their waist. For this purpose there is different nutrition programs and health programs conducted for the people and they are served with different diet plans in order to get back their original health.
